PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp drive unit, projector and discharge lamp drive method, capable of optimizing lighting operations of a discharge lamp with simple control.SOLUTION: The discharge lamp drive unit includes: drive circuits 20 and 30 that supplies electric power to a discharge lamp 90 for lighting-on, and a control section 40 that controls electric power supplied to the discharge lamp 90 by the drive circuits 20 and 30. The control section 40, after starting power supply to the discharge lamp under a lighting-off state, changes an electric current running through the discharge lamp 90 according to a change in a voltage between electrodes of the discharge lamp 90. |
