PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage element capable of avoiding reducing storage capacity and preventing a laser beam from penetrating inside when being laser welded, and to provide a process of manufacturing a cover plate.SOLUTION: The storage element includes a case having a case body and a cover plate. The case body has step parts at opening edges. The cover plate has protrusions that are inserted in the opening part of the case body. A part of the protrusions are facing the step parts inside of the case body.
