PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing chimeric influenza virus-like particles (VLPs) within a plant or a portion of a plant.SOLUTION: The invention relates to expression of chimeric influenza HA by introducing a vector and a nucleic acid encoding chimeric influenza HA into a plant or a portion of a plant. The invention relates to producing VLPs comprising chimeric influenza HA protein and plant lipids, and using the VLPs to formulate influenza vaccines or enrich existing vaccines.
