摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a high quality image in initialization operation that is performed after starting drive of a light source and before reaching an image formation period, and to shorten a time for the initialization operation in comparison with that by a prior art.SOLUTION: In a LD 81 to be used, a predetermined drive current value corresponding to a light emission amount with which it is demonstrated that appropriate image formation operation can be obtained in an experiment or the like is held in an initial drive current holding unit 802 to be prepared in advance. A drive control unit 801 of a LD driver 80, when performing initialization operation, sets the drive current value held as a drive condition adapted to the LD 81 not operating to start light emission operation of the LD 81 and adjusts an image formation condition by checking light emission. With this initialization operation, a time required for the initialization operation can be shorter than that by a prior art in which a light emission characteristic is obtained by gradually increasing the drive current from a state that a LD is not lit, and the initialization operation can be performed in which image quality of an image to be formed is not reduced.</p>
