PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element having a precisely patterned light emitting layer capable of being manufactured at low cost.SOLUTION: The light emitting element includes: a first electrode 2; a charge injection transporting layer 4; a light emitting layer 6; and a second electrode 8 which are laminated in this order, in which at least the light emitting layer 6 is defined by a bank 5. In the light emitting element, the bank 5 has at least a liquid-repellent surface, and the charge injection transporting layer 4 is formed of a metallic compound more lyophilic than the surface of the bank 5. The charge injection transporting layer 4 has a region defined by the bank 5, which has a formed in a concave structure lower than the level of bottom of the bank.
