<p>Provided are a rotating machine and a rotating machine drive system for use in a six-phase drive, wherein the utilization rate of a semiconductor switching element within an inverter is improved. This rotating machine is characterized in that windings are housed in multiple slots to form a stator, with two sets of three-phase windings being provided, and with the windings of the same phase in each set having, as their respective winding start position in the multiples slots, a first and a second slot position for which the electrical angles have a phase difference of 180 degrees, and with the windings ending respectively in the second and the first slot position for which the electrical angles have a phase difference of 180 degrees, and with a winding that is initially wound in a first direction from one slot position being wound so as to return to the side at which the one slot position exists and toward the other slot position in the direction opposite the first direction, when the winding approaches the other slot position, and with the winding end points of the three-phase windings of each set being connected in common, and with alternating current voltages of the same magnitude but having inverted phases being applied to the two sets of three-phase windings.</p> |
