<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse osmotic membrane device capable of stably treating a body of raw water including copious membrane pollutants such as membrane bioreactor (MBR)-treated water, etc. by preventing a water permeation volume attenuation; and a method for operating the same.SOLUTION: In a method for operating a reverse osmotic membrane device for treating, as a body of raw water, water including organic polymers, the raw water includes organic polymers having molecular weights of at least 10,000 at concentrations of 0.01 ppm or above. The reverse osmotic membrane device includes a spiral reverse osmotic membrane element satisfying the following formula (1). The reverse osmotic membrane device is operated at a permeation flux of 0.6 m/d or below.
