PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a soft magnetic composite material appropriate for a core of a reactor.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes: a preparation step of preparing soft magnetic metal powder of which a density ratio represented by (apparent density/true density)×100 exceeds 45% and is equal to or less than 70%; a mixing step of mixing the soft magnetic metal powder with a resin 20, in which mixing is performed while adjusting viscosity of the resin at a resin temperature during mixing to 100 mPa s to 100 Pa s; and a molding step of obtaining a compact by filling a die 3 with the mixed materials. A filling ratio of the soft magnetic metal powder ranges from 35 vol% or more to 70 vol% or less, and a saturation magnetic flux density Bs is set to 0.6 T or more.
