PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery and a secondary battery module, capable of reliably discharging battery cells constituting a battery system when, for instance, a battery system or an inverter and the like that are electrically coupled to the battery system are poured by water.SOLUTION: The secondary battery includes secondary battery cells 20 and cell controllers 30 that control charging and discharging of the secondary battery cells 20. The cell controllers 30 discharge the secondary battery cells 20 when water pouring or possibility of water pouring of a secondary battery 15 and/or an energization part electrically coupled to the secondary battery 15 is detected.
