This device for controlling a vehicle is provided with: an acquisition unit that acquires captured image data output from an imaging element that is provided to the vehicle and images the periphery of the vehicle, and vehicle state data output from a vehicle state detection unit provided to the vehicle; and a control unit that controls the rotation of the captured image data on the basis of the inclination in the left-right direction of the vehicle with respect to the horizontal direction, which is a direction contained in a horizontal plane perpendicular to the direction of gravity as calculated from the vehicle state data. The control unit controls the rotation in a manner so that horizontal lines contained in a subject captured in the captured image data are approximately parallel to the lateral-direction sides at the display region that is the destination of output.
