PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breathing circuit component to reduce or eliminate condensation, for use in assisted breathing, particularly in medical applications.SOLUTION: A breathing circuit component includes an inlet, an outlet and an enclosing wall defining a gas passageway between the inlet and the outlet. At least a region of the wall comprises a material that allows the passage of water vapor without allowing the passage of liquid water or respiratory gases, where the material is selected from among (a) hydrophilic thermoplastic materials, (b) perfluorinated polymeric materials and (c) woven fabrics. |
