The present invention relates to an image recording system and method for a vehicle which can detect a type of accident if the car has a traffic accident, and automatically perform an accident settlement in accordance to the type of the accident. The image recording system additionally stores at least one of the information about a vehicle state, the information about a road state, and the information about a body state of a driver, as well as the photographed image; thereby analyzing more correctly the cause of the accident. Also, the image recording system notifies at least one opponent, who is most suitable for the accident settlement, of the type of accident in accordance to the type of the accident, thereby performing an urgent accident settlement. The image recording system automatically performs a controllable vehicular function in accordance with the type of the accident to notify the accident occurring situation to the surroundings, thereby preventing a secondary accident. In addition, the information stored in the image recording device is automatically backed up to prepare for disappearance due to a vehicle fire, breakdown or loss. |
