Provided are a method for providing emotion information based on an electronic program guide (EPG) and a device for performing the same. The method for providing emotion information based on an EPG by an emotion information providing server comprises the steps of: extracting a keyword for a broadcasting program based on an EPG received from an EPG providing server; searching a content database for content related to the extracted keyword; inferring emotion information about the broadcasting program from the content; storing the emotion information in an emotion information database; and reading the emotion information from the emotion information database in response to an emotion information request signal received from an interactive TV and transmitting the emotion information to the interactive TV.
