<p>Immunoassay result reading apparatus comprising: test strip 1; a plurality of coloured particles 5 arranged on test strip 1 which are chosen to preferentially bind to a substance of interest to form one or more complexes 6; probe 3, which is arranged on test strip 1 and which is chosen to preferentially bind to complexes 6 and immobilise complexes 6 on test strip 1; and at least one filter 7, 8 that restricts the transmission of certain frequencies of electromagnetic radiation emitted by complexes 6 and permits the transmission of other certain frequencies of electromagnetic radiation. The at least one filter 7,8 may comprise a colour filter, a Wratten filter, a polarising filter, or may comprise a lens. Preferably, the filter is a photochromic filter. The filter is used to improve and enhance the clarity of the immunoassay result, such as by increasing the contrast between different colours in the immunoassay result.</p> |
