The present invention relates to a rechargeable battery management method. More specifically, the present invention relates to a rechargeable battery failure prediction apparatus which can predict the rechargeable battery failures by using the charging attributes of a rechargeable battery and a method thereof. The present invention can more accurately predict the service life of the rechargeable battery by predicting the service life of the rechargeable battery through using the charging voltage attributes present while the rechargeable battery is charged in a stable condition. The present invention also conducts a particle filtering operation based on the Bayesian approach to consider the uncertainty occurring in the service life prediction, thereby enabling a more accurate service life prediction.
