A method for inputting a character in a terminal including an input unit according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises a step of displaying an input screen which corresponds to the input unit on a display unit; a step of receiving the input of a user through the input unit; and a step of controlling the size of a key area which receives the input of the user in the input unit based on the input. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a user who uses the terminal can accurately and rapidly input the character. The present invention is provided to control the size of a key arranged on the input unit based on a predicted next input value based on the input of the user, thereby receiving accurate input. The present invention is provided to control the size of an inputted next key based on the input of the user when next input of the user is easily predicted rather than a limited database is searched for predicting the input of the user, thereby offering a terminal suitable for the user.
