The present invention relates to a high deposition welding device for a horizontal butt joint, which can weld a joint by high deposition welding without welding a root unit with regard to a horizontal butt joint weld, and to a method thereof. The high deposition welding device for a horizontal butt joint comprises a traverse device unit, which transfers a welding tip in the vertical and diagonal direction of the bevels of an upper welding base material and a lower welding base material; a welding torch, which is equipped with the welding tip and is installed in the traverse device unit; a copper shoe, which is installed in the traverse device unit in order to be positioned in the direction of the welding of the welding tip, and which sprays gas to molten liquid iron in the direction reverse to the welding direction; and a control unit, which controls a welding condition according to the position of the bevels of the horizontal butt joint so that the upper welding base material can maintain constant deposition amount without a micro cross section and a welding surface. The control unit enables the traverse device unit to be conveyed along a particular weaving pattern including weaving traverse having multiple nodal points and slant traverse. The control unit controls the welding current and voltage, the wire supply speed, the traverse speed, and the stopping time in the nodal point in the moving interval between adjacent nodal points, thereby performing high deposition welding for the bevels without performing a root pass welding. |
