[Class (iv)] [Also in Groups XX and XXXIV] A device on an automatic lathe for protection against thrown out oil and cuttings, comprises a protecting cover 4 adapted to cap the turning axis of the lathe and to be moved on runways 2, 10, and is pivotable around an axis parallel to the turning axis and disposed close to one of said runways. A rail 2 secured to the front ofthe lathe constitutes a runway for grooved rollers 3 rotatably mounted on pivots fixed to the cover 4. On the other side, the cover 4 carries a support 6 by means of which it is pivotally mounted on an axle 7 having forked ends in which deep grooved rollers 9 are rotatably mounted. The rollers 9 run on a rail 10 which is divided into two sections, one 11 which is fixed and the other 12 secured to an arm 13 rotatably mounted on an axle 14 carried by lugs 15 of the: machine frame. The backward swinging movement of the cover 4 is limited by an abutment 18 integral therewith which engages the rail 10. A pane is provided in the cover 4, through which the working parts may be observed. In a modification,. the axle 7 carries pairs of rollers 21, Fig.. 8, which are disposed above and below the rail 10. In a further modification, the axle 7 carries rollers 22, Fig. 9, which run in a U-shaped rail 23. |
