The present invention relates to a method for and apparatus for processing sugar bagasse which produces a significantly increased level of thermal output. More specifically, the thermal output of the processing method and the apparatus used therefore produces far more energy for transfer to an electricity generating module of the plant for generating electricity.

1. A method for increasing energy output from bagasse for use in a sugar cane processing plant comprising the steps of:
grinding the bagasse in a grinding mill; pulverizing the ground bagasse to a particle size no greater than ⅛ inch in diameter; drying the pulverized bagasse; delivering the dried pulverized bagasse to a storage warehouse, from which pulverized bagasse is automatically transported to boilers of the sugar cane processing plant to power said boilers; delivering unburnt excess pulverized bagasse from the boilers to the warehouse, and allowing the excess pulverized bagasse to mix with the pulverized bagasse in the warehouse to form a mix, so that the excess pulverized bagasse is automatically retro-fed to the boilers, the mix becoming dried to a moisture content of approximately 10% by weight; and utilizing excess available dried pulverized bagasse to provide energy for operation of an electrical generation plant local to the sugar cane processing plant.
