Fluoropolymer containing laminates

The multilayer film serves as a laminate. In some embodiments, the film is a multilayered structure that, in its base form, encompasses an intermediate layer with first and second outer layer affixed to opposing sides of the intermediate layer. In some embodiments, the first outer layer is a semi-crystalline fluoropolymer. In some embodiments, the intermediate layer includes a polyester and the second outer layer is an olefinic polymer.

1. A method of making a multilayer film, comprising:
providing a first substrate having a first major surface and a second major surface, the first substrate including at least one of polyester and polyamide; applying a fluoropolymer-containing composition onto the first major surface of the first substrate, the fluoropolymer-containing composition being one of an aqueous dispersion or a solution; providing a second substrate including a polyolefin; positioning the second substrate adjacent to the second major surface of the first substrate; and modifying the first major surface of the first substrate with at least one of: (i) creating surface polar functional groups, and (ii) applying a primer; wherein the multilayer film is a backing film for solar cells.
