[Abstract] The present invention provides a seat frame having an energy-absorbing portion capable of being deformed while absorbing rear-end collision energy by concentrating the energy on the energy absorbing portion. The seat frame has a seat cushion frame comprising a pair of side frames oppositely disposed and laterally spaced apart, each side frame being formed from a plate-like member, and a seat back frame connected to the side frames at their rear portions, wherein at least one side frame of the pair of side frames has the energy-absorbing portion extending forward from a rear periphery of the side frame, and the energy-absorbing portion includes a recess configured so that the plate-like member is partly recessed toward the opposite side frame or toward the opposite side thereof, and the peripheral edge of the recess is defined by a rear edge, an upper edge and a lower edge. The rear edge extends between the upper end and lower end, each of which is located at the rear periphery, with the lower end located lower than the upper end. The upper edge extends between the upper end and front end of the recess. The lower edge extends between the lower end and the front end. |
