[Class 78 (i)] A pulverised fuel distributor for distributing a gaseous stream of pulverised fuel passing along a trunk or to a junction comprises a deflector member 5 mounted internally of the trunk on a wall thereof and having a width less than the corresponding dimension of the trunk ; and means 12 for adjusting the member between a position in which it lies flat against the internal wall and a position in which it projects inwards therefrom so as to modify the fuel distribution across the trunk. As shown, air conveying powdered coal passes up rectangular trunk 1 and divides into two branches 1a, 1b. Sets of fingers 5, 6 projecting into the trunk are secured to axles 7, 8, which are journalled at each end thereof in the trunk and are each set at the required angle by a handle 12, which is fixed on the end of the axle and has a pin 21 moving in the slot 22 of quadrant 23 fixed to the trunk and has a nut 20 for securing the pin to the quadrant. A similar double set of fingers 15, 16 is arranged at right-angles to the first set described and is spaced therefrom. Each double set of fingers is mounted in a separate section 3 or 4 of the trunk. The fingers may be flat, or twisted, or (Fig. 5) may be flat-faced hollow members 35 ; or they may be slid through slots in the wall ; or may be telescopic, and may be set angularly and automatically by means sensitive to the fuel load in the trunk. The fingers of one set may be staggered relative to the fingers of an opposite set or one set of fingers only may be used and these fingers may be independently rotatable on their axle or may be collapsible like a fan.</p> |
