The present invention relates to a method for preparing anhydrosugar alcohol with reduced formation of polymeric reaction byproducts, and more specifically, to a method for preparing anhydrosugar alcohol capable of reducing the formation of polymeric reaction byproducts to obtain an objective of high yield without influencing total process efficiency, providing excellent process improving effect, which can improve fluidity of a reaction solution in a post-distillation process, and being applied to a process of preparing a large quantity of anhydrosugar alcohol by: carrying out a first reaction under the condition of maximizing the yield of mono-anhydrosugar alcohol, which is an intermediate, in performing a step of dehydrating hydrogenated sugar to be converted into anhydrosugar alcohol; ending the first reaction by putting a neutralizing agent; and then preparing di-anhydrosugar alcohol by additionally putting a catalyst.
