A method and apparatus for very fine grinding is disclosed. The apparatus uses a rotor (42) with blades rapidly rotating in a compatible cylindrical housing. A friction inducing surface (50) on the cylindrical face (48) is provided in the gap between the blade faces and the housing inner surface to assist in the grinding effectiveness. The friction inducing surface is adhered to randomly shaped portions positioned in spaced apart locations around the periphery of the substantially cylindrical chamber.
