PURPOSE: A thermal device is provided suppress noise generated in a compressor or a fan by reducing heating capacity of an HP heat source unit in all methods. CONSTITUTION: A thermal device comprises a heat pump, a heat storage tank, and an auxiliary heat source unit. The heat pump heats a thermal medium by absorbing heat from natural environment. The auxiliary heat source unit heats the thermal medium by the combustion of fuel gas. The thermal device is selected as one among a usual mode and a predetermined sound mode. When the predetermined sound mode is selected, the heating efficiency of the heat pump is reduced in comparison with a case in which the usual mode is selected.
