A trailer hitch shock dampening system (100) is disclosed. The hitch has a base (110) defining a longitudinal axis and a pivot axis substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. An arm (120) is pivotally connected to the base about the pivot axis, the arm including a first end and a second end. A coupling (130) is connected to the first end of the arm and a dampener (140), such as an air cushion, is mounted between the base and the second end of the arm. The coupling, pivot axis and dampener are positioned substantially along the longitudinal axis of the hitch. The hitch may be attached to the trailer (200) or caravan using bolts or other fastening methods. |
