The method involves determining a correlation coefficient (K), which is the ratio of a criterion related to real pressure and the criterion related to theoretical pressure. The correlation coefficient is upgraded by using a specific formula. An average correlation coefficient (Kmoy) is determined from the obtained coefficients to update the calculation of the estimated soot mass of the particle filter and/or for quantification of contamination in the decontamination agent from the particle filter.
