The invention relates to a method for assisting in overtaking a vehicle in the context of motor vehicle travel, including the steps consisting of: transmitting, by means of radio frequency, geolocation data acquired by a geolocation module via a satellite (4) coupled to a radio frequency module (7), from a requestor motor vehicle to a receiving motor vehicle; analyzing, from the receiving vehicle, the geolocation data transmitted by the requestor vehicle; and, depending on the pertinence of the analyzed data, alerting, from the receiving vehicle, the driver thereof of the imminence of overtaking, and manually or automatically transmitting a radio frequency signal to the requestor vehicle, in order to notify said requestor vehicle that the receiving vehicle has indeed been notified of the imminent overtaking. |
