PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solenoid valve capable of alleviating abrupt change of a damping force.SOLUTION: A solenoid valve V comprises: a main valve M having a valve seat 2 arranged in a main flow passage 1 and an annular leaf valve 3 as a main valve element moving onto and away from the valve seat 2 to close and open the main flow passage 1; a pilot flow passage 4 bifurcated from the main flow passage 1; an orifice 5 arranged in the pilot flow passage 4; a back pressure chamber P connected downstream of the orifice 5 in the pilot flow passage 4 and having an internal pressure pushing the leaf valve 3 that is the main valve element in a closing direction; a pilot valve 6 arranged downstream of a connection point of the pilot flow passage 4 with the back pressure chamber P and controlling the pressure in the back pressure chamber P; and a solenoid Sol adjusting the valve opening pressure of the pilot valve 6. A time differential is provided between a valve opening timing of the main valve M and a valve opening timing of the pilot valve 6 to make the valve opening timing of the main valve M later than the valve opening timing of the pilot valve 6.
