摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of a field apparatus incorporating a light-emitting element, by measuring and calculating the total cumulative time, i.e., the actual emission time of a light-emitting element such as a light-emitting diode for use in optical communication, based on the communication waveform, and reducing the emission time if the operating life of the light-emitting diode is approaching.SOLUTION: A field apparatus configured to perform data communication between a plurality of boards via optical communication means includes total cumulative time measurement means for measuring the total emission cumulative time of the light-emitting element configuring the optical communication means, operating life threshold storage means for storing the threshold of operating life of the light-emitting element, comparison means for comparing the total emission cumulative time of the light-emitting element with the threshold of operating life, and light-emitting element drive means for driving the light-emitting element at a predetermined period based on the comparison results from the comparison means.
