This laser welding apparatus (10) sequentially supplies workpieces having an abutting interface therebetween to a welding position while welding the abutting interface of the workpieces by means of laser irradiation, and is provided with an X-Y axis scanner (31) for scanning a laser beam (LB) output from a laser source (20) in the mutually perpendicular X-axis and Y-axis directions, an abutting interface form measurement device (60) for measuring the dimensions along the abutting interface (86), and a control device (70) for controlling the driving of the X-Y axis scanner (31) in order to weld the abutting interface (86a) by means of laser irradiation. As a result of said configuration, it is possible to measure the shape of the abutting interface of the workpieces with high precision and perform high quality laser welding of the abutting interface of the workpieces.
