An implant strip is disclosed. In some cases, the prosthesis can take the form of an implant strip that may be implanted through the use of a surgical procedure that minimizes incision sizes and may be considered less invasive than typical spinal implant procedures. The implant strip includes provisions for implantation, including teeth, spacing provisions, and various shapes.

1. A spinal prosthesis comprising:
an implant strip having a first longitudinal edge and a second longitudinal edge; a deflecting portion extending laterally between the first longitudinal edge and the second longitudinal edge, wherein the deflecting portion deflects under a compressive force applied laterally to the implant strip such that the first longitudinal edge and the second longitudinal edge move toward each other; and a motion limiting device laterally between the first longitudinal edge and the second longitudinal edge, wherein the motion limiting device stops movement of the first longitudinal edge and the second longitudinal edge toward each other under the compressive load and thereby stops the deflection of the deflecting portion.
