A method for diagnosing ovarian cancer metastasis or the risk of the metastasis, comprising the steps of: (a) measuring methylation levels at the CpG sites of one or more gene promoters selected from the group consisting of AGR2 (anterior gradient 2), CA9 (carbonic adj anhydrase 9), GABRP (gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor pi subunit), IFITM1 (interferon-induced transmembrane 1) and MUC13 (mucin 13) in a biological sample of a subject, (b) comparing the methylation levels with those of the gene promoters of a control sample, and (c) determining that the subject has ovarian cancer metastasis or is at the risk of the metastasis when the methylation levels measured in the sample of the subject are lower than those of the control sample.
