PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator group management apparatus capable of quickly detecting a situation where a waiting column is continuously occurring in front of an entrance resulting from passengers in excess of the transport capacity gathering, enabling increasing of the number of dispatched cars only when such a situation occurs, without installing a camera.SOLUTION: An elevator group management apparatus includes: ride situation detection means for detecting a ride situation in a car during a start every time an elevator arrives and starts from a certain floor on the basis of a temporal change in an in-car load; storage means for storing passenger ride information for each floor and direction of lift; demand detection means for detecting whether or not a traffic demand exceeds a transport capacity for each floor and direction of lift on the basis of ride situation information of a recent predetermined number of times; and car dispatch control means for increasing the number of dispatched cars to be assigned to a call for riding in an applicable direction of an applicable floor while an excess of transport capacity is detected in the direction of lift of the floor, and returning to an original number of dispatched cars when the aforementioned situation is resolved.
