Provided is a gas barrier film which has excellent barrier properties with respect to oxygen, water vapor and the like, and which preferably has excellent water vapor barrier properties after being left to stand for a certain period of time in a humidified environment. A gas barrier film which is obtained by forming an inorganic compound thin film on at least one surface of a plastic film. This gas barrier film is characterized in that: the inorganic compound thin film is mainly composed of aluminum oxide and magnesium oxide; the ratio of the magnesium oxide relative to 100% by mass of the total of the aluminum oxide and the magnesium oxide contained in the inorganic compound thin film is from 5% by mass to 90% by mass (inclusive); and the inorganic compound thin film has a film thickness of 5-80 nm. |
