PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration element having a small capacitance ratio γ to improve a manufacturing yield of a vibrator by enlarging the frequency variable range of a voltage control type oscillator, at a high frequency (200 MHZ or higher).SOLUTION: The vibration element includes a substrate that vibrates by thickness slip vibration, a first excitation electrode provided on one principle plane of the substrate and formed into a quadrangle with the four corners thereof cut off, and a second excitation electrode provided on the other principle plane of the substrate, and the ratio (S2/S1) of an area S1 of the quadrangle to an area S2 of the first excitation electrode satisfies 87.7%≤(S2/S1)<95.0%.
