PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device with improved visibility.SOLUTION: An image display device includes: a white light source having a continuous emission spectrum 2; an image display cell 4; a polarizer 8 placed closer to a viewing side than the image display cell; a polarizer protective film 10b laminated on the viewing side of the polarizer; a light source side scattering preventing film 14 placed closer to the viewing side than the polarizer protective film 10b; and a viewing side scattering preventing film 15 placed closer to the viewing side than the light source side scattering preventing film. The polarizer protective film and the viewing side scattering preventing film are oriented films having 3000 to 150000 nm retardation. The light source side scattering preventing film is an oriented film. Orientation principal axes of the polarizer protective film and the viewing side scattering preventing film are approximately parallel to each other. An orientation principal axis of the light source side scattering preventing film and an orientation principal axis of one with higher retardation value of the polarizer protective film and the viewing side scattering preventing film, are approximately parallel or an approximately perpendicular. |
