[Class 40 (iii)] In a photo-electric light meter in which the photo-cell 12 is pivoted along an edge 13, on the meter casing, so that the cell may be inclined to any chosen angle while the axis of the.indicating instrument is maintained vertical, the cell pivots into a recess (shown dotted) in the top of the meter and is maintained in the inclined position by a pair of wires 14 which ride in a slot 16 in the back of the meter and are sprung apart so as to grip the slot frictionally. The photo-cell is hermetically sealed, the front of its container consisting of a glass plate, the edge of which is silvered to provide an electrical connection with the cell, and the rear of a metal plate spaced from the cell by a spring to provide a second electrical connection. The edge of the cell is sealed with a continuous ring of " Neoprene." Optical filters may be attached to the photo-cell to alter the range. A knob 18 on the instrument may shunt the spring coil meter. |
