The valve (W) has a port(1)for connecting a suction opening (A) of a pressure medium container (D), where the valve is designed as a non-return valve with a length-adjustable valve piston. The non-return valve is actuated between an operating position in which a flow connection of the suction opening to a suction line of a hydraulic pump is opened, and a maintenance position in which the suction opening of the container is blocked. The non-return valve is actuated between the operating position and the maintenance position by an actuating element when connected to the suction line.
