The method involves bringing the plastic preform (1) into mechanical contact with inner gripper (2) and connected with inner gripper. The plastic preform is guided in and/or along a transport path. The plastic preform is released from the inner gripper. The mechanical vibrations produced by the vibration measurement device (3) are evaluated during and/or after the release of plastic preform from the inner gripper and/or transmitted on the inner gripper with respect to properties such as amplitude of oscillations, the frequency of oscillations and the dynamics of oscillation.
