The battery (10) has a battery module provided with a tensioning arrangement for mechanical spanning of battery cells (11) of the battery module. Multiple insulating elements (14) of the battery cells are electrically insulated with each other in relation to environment. The insulating elements are arranged in the battery module, where each insulating elements is maintained by spanning force (F) of the mechanical spanning at the battery cells. The insulating elements are formed with a recess or a hole such that electrical contact of the cells is carried out through the recess or the hole. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a battery module.
