Provided is a pneumatic tire wherein temperature increases in the treads when the tire is under a rolling load can be effectively suppressed, and failures of the treads caused by temperature increases can be sufficiently suppressed. A pneumatic tire in which a lag groove is formed in the wheel tread positioned between both tread ends, the lag groove being open in at least one end in a buttress extending in the tire width direction and extending inward along the tire diameter from the tread ends; the surface of the buttress having a protuberance which is positioned in one side in the tire circumference in the buttress-side opening of the lag groove and which protrudes in the tire width direction; and the outer end of the protuberance along the tire diameter being positioned farther outward along the tire diameter than the inner end, along the tire diameter, of the buttress-side opening of the lag groove. |
