A device (10) for helping an individual to put on an item of clothing, having a pair of openings therein for the individual's legs, has a pair of elongate foot rests (11, 12), with each foot rest (11, 12) being mounted at one end thereof (13, 14), respectively to a support plate (15) at positions (16, 17), respectively. The foot rests (11, 12) are upstanding from the support plate (15) so as to leave a free space (18) around each foot rest (11, 12), such that, in use, the item of clothing is placeable, by way of the leg openings therein, over and around the foot rests (11, 12), with the individual then placing his feet on the foot rests and pulling the item of clothing off the foot rests and up his legs. The individual's feet, when resting on the foot rests (11, 12), are separated from an item of clothing in place around the foot rests (11, 12), such that the clothing below each foot rest (11, 12) is not being stood on. Thus, as the item of clothing is pulled off the device 10) and up the legs, the clothing is free to run up the legs and is not hindered by the individual's feet. |
