The invention provides a construction material preservative for wood, and the like with which there is long-term retention of a preservative effect and the effect is retained with a low concentration, even when used in combination with an insecticide. The construction material preservative contains a silver-amino acid water-soluble complex formed from 1 molar part silver and 1 to 3 molar parts amino acid.
