PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further stabilize the floating state of a conveying object at the time of passing over a gap between the conveying surface of two adjacent conveying rails with an interval in the conveying direction.SOLUTION: A floating conveying device blows off compressed air from a conveying surface 110 of conveying rails 1 arranged in a conveying direction and conveys a conveying object 3, such as a glass substrate, in the conveying direction while floating it from the conveying surface 110 of the conveying rails 1. A gap 4 in tilting direction to the conveying direction at a predetermined angle &thetas; is formed between the two conveying surfaces 110A and 110B which adjoin each other in the conveying direction among the conveying surfaces 110 of the conveying rail 1 arranged in the conveyance direction. The conveying surface 110B located in the downstream side of the conveying direction out of the two conveying surfaces 110A and 110B positions the tip of the corner part 118 on the rear end surface 123 side corresponding to an angle &thetas; to the upstream of the conveying direction of the tip of the corner part 116 on the forward end surface 121 side corresponding to the angle &thetas; of the conveying surface 110A located in the upstream side of the conveying direction.
