PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maximum power point tracking device and maximum power point tracking method that reduce the number of components and the cost and accurately track a maximum power point when a vehicle is mounted on a photovoltaic power generation device. ! SOLUTION: The maximum power point tracking device tracks a maximum power point of the electric power output by a photovoltaic power generation device mounted on a vehicle. The maximum power point tracking device includes: setting means for setting a narrow measurement range of the maximum power point and a short measurement cycle when the vehicle is running and when the vehicle is stopping; and controlling means for controlling the electric power output from the photovoltaic power generation device using the set measurement range and measurement cycle. !
