Provided is a terminal in which loss of strength and loss of thickness of a welded area is suppressed and breakage during the swaging process is suppressed. This terminal comprises a connector section, a tubular pressure-bonded section, and a transition section, wherein the tubular pressure-bonded section comprises a metal member that has a base layer made from nickel, a nickel alloy, cobalt, or a cobalt alloy with a thickness of 0.0-0.8 µm on a substrate made of copper or a copper alloy with a thickness of 0.20-1.40 mm, and that has a covering layer made of tin, a tin alloy, nickel, a nickel alloy, silver, or a silver alloy with a thickness of 0.2-3.0 µm formed on the substrate and/or the base layer. The tubular pressure-bonded section has a welded area formed by butt-welding the metal member. On a cross section perpendicular to the terminal longitudinal direction of the welded area, a phase of tin, a tin alloy, nickel, a nickel alloy, silver, or a silver alloy larger than 0.01 µm2 is present in the welded area. The tubular pressure-bonded section is formed into a blocked tube in which the end opposite a wire insertion opening is blocked. |
