641,406. Dry-contact rectifiers. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Sept. 10, 1948, No. 23812. Convention date, Sept. 20, 1947. [Class 37] In contact with surface of a layer of semiconducting material 2, e.g. selenium on the metal base-plate 1 of a rectifier is a counterelectrode 5 and a layer 3 of insulating material, e.g. paper or a synthetic material. A metal plate 4 overlies at least part of the paper 3 and is conductively and solidly secured to the counterelectrode 5; and a metal current -absorber 6 bears under pressure against that part of the plate 4 overlying the insulating layer 3, the plate 4 being a metal or alloy of greater mechanical strength than the counter-electrode 5, especially at high temperatures. The plate 4 is a foil of tin or silver or an alloy of these and may be applied by atomization. The plate 4 either covers or is covered by the periphery of the counter-electrode 5. |
