METHOD FOR REMOVING RADIOACTIVE CONTAMINANT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decontamination technique capable of removing radioactive contaminants included in radioactive materials easily and economically.SOLUTION: A decontamination method, which decontaminates burned ashes and soils contaminated with radioactive cesium by removing radioactive contaminants, comprises: a step 101 in which radioactive contaminants and alkaline cleaning fluid are mixed and the mixture is agitated and cleaned under heating so that radioactive materials are extracted in cleaning processing liquid; and a step 102 in which the radioactive materials in the cleaning processing liquid is removed with an adsorbent. A step 103 can be performed in which either calcium hydroxide or aluminum hydroxide (or both of them) is added in the cleaning processing liquid from which the radioactive materials were removed and a mixture of the alkaline cleaning fluid used in the step 101 and calcium hydroxide or aluminum hydroxide (or both of them) is produced as a resynthesis cleaning fluid.
