PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device with improved visibility.SOLUTION: An image display device includes: (1) a white light source 2 having a continuous emission spectrum; (2) an image display cell; (3) a polarizer placed closer to a viewing side than the image display cell; (4) a scattering preventing film 14 placed closer to the viewing side than the polarizer; and (5) a base film with a laminated transparent conductive layer placed closer to the viewing side than the scattering preventing film 14. The scattering preventing film 14 and the base film are oriented films having 3000 to 150000 nm retardation. Orientation principal axes of the scattering preventing film 14 and the base film are approximately parallel to each other, or the polarizer protective film and the scattering preventing film have different retardations from each other, and the difference is 1800 nm or higher. |
